German area

The German department is a young, emerging field of research and teaching dedicated to the training of German teachers.

Based at the Institute of Specialised Didactics, it maintains close links with the other didactic subjects, especially language didactics, as well as the Institute of German Studies. German didactics as an academic discipline has been divided into three sections: literature, language and media didactics. The Innsbruck German department is particularly interested in intermedial relationships between literature and other aesthetic forms of expression (music, graphic novels, film) as well as interaction and dialogue research, also in literary didactic contexts.
