Digital Innovation in Research and Teaching 2023

Funding of the Förderkreis 1669 of the Universität Innsbruck

 

The Förderkreis 1669 supports the digitalization efforts of the Universität Innsbruck with a call for proposals to promote digital innovation in research and teaching.

Objective

Funding is provided for innovative projects of all faculties that use digital methods to contribute to

  • the digitalization of the research process,
  • the transfer of digital competencies or
  • the innovative design of teaching

Special consideration will be given to projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Promotion of interdisciplinary approaches in the sense of cross-departmental and/or cross-faculty collaboration.
  • Involvement of students (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
  • Strengthening of digital sovereignty (e.g., through the use of open source software)
  • Promotion and implementation of Open Science (e.g. by generating open educational resources)
Application requirements

The call for proposals is open to all scientific staff members who are employed by the Universität Innsbruck for the entire duration of the project.

The maximum funding amount per project is EUR 30,000 with a maximum duration of 12 months. Funded projects must begin within 3 months after funding approval.

Eligible costs
  1. Personnel costs
  2. Material and equipment costs: consumables; equipment or software specifically required for the project.
  3. Travel costs: costs for project-specific travel and research stays can be requested. The project description must include a detailed travel itinerary (broken down by staff member).

Costs that are NOT eligible for funding: conference travel, event costs, substitute teaching, publication costs incl. open access fees.

Content of the proposal
  1. Application form
  2. Scientific abstract (max. 2000 characters incl. spaces, in German or English)
  3. Project description (max. 5 pages, without list of abbreviations/literature, in German or English):
  • Objectives / expected project results
  • Contribution of the project to the digitalization of the research process, the transfer of digital competencies or the innovative design of teaching at the Universität Innsbruck
  • Justification of the digital methods used, description of the innovation and sustainability of the project
  • Project participants, participating departments
  • Work plan and time schedule
  1. Budget planning: list and justification of the requested costs
  2. Curriculum vitae and list of publications of the project participants

 

Applications must be entered into the project database by the responsible project database officer of the department to which the applicant belongs by no later than

March 15, 2023

The database entry needs to contain all required documents.
