Abstract
The use of the anaerobic digestion process for methane production is gaining importance in the world of renewable energy. This study aims at finding the best way to maximise biogas production by making the most efficient use of the sludge. Assessing microbial stability and identifying potentially useful taxa to modulate this process is of paramount importance, and was emphasized in the current study. Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and metagenomic analysis, we documented the evolution of microbial communities during the transition from parallel to serial mode and subsequently the effect of adding glycerol in primary and secondary reactors, and I will present the preliminary results from this characterization.
