Aktuelle Forschung

Ich habe drei methodisch miteinander verwobene Forschungsgebiete und bin beteiligt in der Gruppe zur Signal- Daten und Bildanalyse:

  1. Flexibilität und Entwicklung des Herz-Kreislaufsystems (Physiologie)
  2. Bionik und bioinspirierte Forschung und Entwicklung (Bionik und Produktentwicklung)
  3. Geoinformationssysteme in der biologischen Forschung (Digitalisierung)

1: Die funktionelle Entwicklung der Herz-Kreislauf und Atmungsorgane in durchsichtigen Modelltieren, wie dem Zebrafish (Danio rerio) oder den Larven verschiedener Tiere erfolgt mit speziell entwickelten nicht-invasiven digitalen Bildanalyseverfahren, um ein Spektrum von Herz-Kreislauf und Atmungsparametern zu messen. Parallel helfen molekulare biologische Parameter, wie Gen- und Proteinexpression sowie die Verwendung von Mutationen als Krankheitsmodelle eine holistische Sicht auf die frühen Entwicklungsprozesse von Organismen und Krankheiten zu erhalten.

2: Die Bionik ist ein interdisziplinäres Fach, welches Inspiration aus allen Bereichen der belebten Natur sucht, um deren Erfindungen zu verstehen, abstrahieren und in technische Anwendungen zu übertragen versucht. In der Zoologie befassen wir uns derzeit mit Oberflächenstrukturen (Insekten mit Strukturfarben und anderen Effekten) und Bewegungen im Bereich Robotik.

3: Geoinformationssysteme verwenden u.a. das GPS von Smart Devices, um Datenerfassung aber auch Datenpräsentation in der freien Umwelt zu realisieren. Wir verwenden dieses Systeme in den Bereichen der Leistungsmessung von Menschen im alpinen Gelände aber auch zur Digitalisierung und Schaffung von Naturlehrpfaden mittels sogenannter "Mixed Reality Player". Ein Einsatz in der universitären Lehre, sowie in Schulen findet im Bereich der biologischen Fachdidaktik statt.
