Erasmus+
Outgoing
An Erasmus+ scholarship enables you to spend 6-12 months on an Erasmus programme at one of our partner universities during each cycle (the Bachelor's and Master's programmes each constitute one cycle).
These are currently:
- VU University Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Niederlande)
- Uppsala Universitet (Uppsala, Schweden)
- The Arctic University of Norway (Tromsø, Norwegen)
- University of Latvia (Riga, Lettland)
- Universitatea din Bucuresti (Bukarest, Rumänien)
- University of Iceland (Reyjkjavik, Island)
- Università degli Studi di Bologna (Bologna, Italien)
- Universiteit Gent (Gent, Belgien)
The scholarship ensures that no tuition fees have to be paid at the home or host university. In addition, a small monthly allowance is paid to compensate for the increased cost of living. In preparation for the stay abroad, we ensure that the exams taken abroad are recognised for study in Innsbruck upon return. And besides these hard facts, an Erasmus semester is a great experience where you can learn about a new culture, improve your language skills, meet new people and develop personally.
The Aurora exchange programme offers new opportunities for exchange studies, similar to Erasmus+. There are partner universities in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, France, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Further information can be found here
An Erasmus semester is possible as soon as at least the first year of undergraduate studies has been successfully completed at the time of commencement. However, we recommend the 5th and 6th semesters of a bachelor's degree programme and/or any semester of a master's degree programme as ideal mobility windows.
Furthermore, appropriate language skills are required so that students can follow the lessons. At many universities, courses are taught at least partly in English.
If your desired destination is not included in the list of partner universities or is located on another continent, it is still possible that funding may be available through other networks or country centres. Internships can also be subsidised through Erasmus+ or other programmes. The International Relations Office is the first point of contact for specific information.

Incoming
Welcome! Great that you are interested in an Erasmus+ exchange with the University of Innsbruck. We hope that our website already gave you a first overview and impression about student life here at our university.
The potential courses that you can select depend on your interest but also on your German language skills.
All lectures in the first three years will be taught, without exception, in German.
A very good knowledge of the German language is essential to participate in these classes. It is not mandatory, but we recommend participating in all courses of a module of your choice.

(Attention: there is a new version of the Bachelor curriculum (2018), classes of older curriculum versions will no longer be available.)
Most courses at the Master level can be taught in English in case Erasmus+ students participate.
An overview of these courses is given in the table below. For most courses, a good knowledge in Earth Sciences (BSc level) is required. It is not mandatory, but we recommend participating in all courses of a module of your choice. Attention: many courses are only provided every two years (see table below), so please make sure to incorporate this info in your planning.
Please inform the Earth’s science Erasmus+ representative, Jasper Moernaut, at least 2 months before the start of the first lecture, if you plan to attend modules and/or courses in English language, so the respective teachers can prepare for this.
