Our three main research fields are:
- Quaternary geology and palaeoclimate research
- Sedimentology and limnogeology
- Structural geology and tectonics
In addition to basic research, we actively collaborate with various other academic institutions and companies in the field of applied geology.
Our curricula combine classical field geology with laboratory methods. The Department of Geology is part of the University's Resarch Area Mountain Regions and, in particular, the Research Centres 'Geodynamics and Geomaterials' as well as 'Climate - Cryosphere and Atmosphere'.
