  • Aim: Compare bird morphology between habitats, seasons and age using data collected within Innsbruck over two years.

  • Objectives:

1. Catching and measuring great tits and blue tits in Innsbruck and its surroundings (from March 2024 to January 2025).

2. Analyzing data on bird morphology & thesis writing.

Lab Technician in molecular biology 
  • Context: measuring selection and gene flow in great tits (Parus major) and blue tits (Cyanistes caeruleus) in response to bird feeding.

  • Tasks:
    Design or validate primers for a limited number of pre-specified genes (candidate gene study).
    Optimize a multiplex PCR targeting multiple microsatellite markers.

  • Candidate skills:
    Strong experience in molecular work.
    Experience in primer designing.
    Autonomy. 

  • Position: 4 to 10 months depending on weekly work hours.
