ObwexerS

Dr. Walter Obwexer is University Professor for European and International Law at the University of Innsbruck, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chairman of the Senate. He is a member of the board of ECSA-Austria and of the Austrian Jurists' Day, a member of the "EU Advisory Board" of the Austrian Federal Government, as well as an academic advisor on EU issues for several federal ministries and state governments.

FerlainoS

Dr. Francesca Ferlaino is University Professor of Atomic Physics at the University of Innsbruck and Scientific Director at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). She investigates quantum phenomena at ultra-low temperatures using magnetic atoms, which have been little studied so far. She has received several awards for her work, including the prestigious Feltrinelli Prize, the Grand Prix de Physique "Cécile-DeWitt Morette" of the French Academy of Sciences, the Erwin Schrödinger Prize, as well as a START Prize and three ERC grants.

Dr. Wolfgang Rauch is University Professor for Urban Water Management at the University of Innsbruck and heads the Institute for Infrastructure at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences. He is a member of the board of ÖWAV, editor-in-chief of the journal Water Science & Technology and a board member of IWA Publishing Limited.

Dr. Michaela Ralser is University Professor at the Institute of Educational Science at the University of Innsbruck. For two terms - from 2013 to 2021 - she was Dean of the Faculty of Education. She is a member of the Research Center "Medical Humanities" and the Center for Interdisciplinary Gender Research (CGI). Her research interests include the theory, history, and of public education and the epistemology of education.

Dr. Matthias Bank is University Professor of Banking and Finance at the University of Innsbruck, member of the Senate and Chairman of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Business Administration. He served as Dean for the Faculty over two terms and during this time also as Dean's Speaker (2013-2021). He is also the acting chairman of the University Professors Association Innsbruck (UPVI).

KunzeS

Dr. Julia Kunze-Liebhäuser is University Professor of Materials and Electrochemistry and head of the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Innsbruck. The focus of her research group is electrochemical energy conversion and storage, with application in electrocatalysis and battery research. She is a board member of the CEST Competence Center for Electrochemical Surface Technology GmbH and a member of the board of trustees of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

Dr. Anne Siegetsleitner is University Professor of Practical Philosophy at the University of Innsbruck, head of the Institute of Philosophy and ombudsperson for good scientific practice. She is also a substitute member of the Genetic Engineering Commission of the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, and served as President of the Austrian Society for Philosophy from 2017-2021 and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) from 2017-2020.

Dr. Markus Walzl is one of the Scientific Directors of the FWF Special Research Area (SFB63) Credence Goods, Incentives and Behavior, and works on issues of moral responsibility in markets, sustainable investment and consumption decisions, and trust in scientific expertise. He is Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Statistics and a member of the Ethics Advisory Board of the University of Innsbruck.

Dr. Matthias Harders is University Professor for Computer Graphics at the Institute of Computer Science, University of Innsbruck. He is a member of the Ethics Advisory Board of the LFU and was a long-time member of the Faculty Council of the MIP Faculty (Mathematics, Informatics and Physics). Currently he is involved in three interdisciplinary doctoral programs. He is a co-founder of the EuroHaptics Society, the IEEE Technical Committee on Haptics, and the med-tech start-up VirtaMed, among others.

Mag. Dr. Uta Rußmann is (since March 1, 2022) Professor of Media and Communication Studies with a focus on democracy at the Institute for Media, Society and Communication, University of Innsbruck. She is the director of the future Doctoral College "Politics, Power, Language". Dr. Verena Murschetz, LL.M. is University Professor for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, European and International Criminal Law at the University of Innsbruck, and Deputy Head of the Institute for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and Criminology. Since 2015, Verena Murschetz has headed Commission 1 of the Ombudsman Board on Preventive Human Rights Monitoring for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights in Austria.

Dr. Anke Bockreis holds a PhD in civil engineering and has been Professor of waste treatment and resource management at the University of Innsbruck since 2009. She is active both nationally and internationally in various bodies in different functions. She was also Vice Rector for Infrastructure at the University of Innsbruck from 2012 to 2020.

DormandyS

Dr. Katherine Dormandy is University Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Christian Philosophy at the Faculty of Catholic Theology, and director of the Innsbruck Center for Philosophy of Religion. In her philosophical work she investigates socially relevant topics such as rationality, trust, digitalization, and fundamentalism.

Dr. Ivo Hajnal is a linguist and graduate of the University of Zurich. He worked as University Professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the University of Münster. Since 2001 he has been a University Professor at the Leopold-Franzens-University of Innsbruck.

HaemmererS

Dr. rer nat. Dorothea Hämmerer is Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Innsbruck. She is associated with the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London as well as the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Magdeburg. Her research focuses on imaging methods and cognitive paradigms that can map early brain and cognitive changes in dementia.

Dr. Thomas Hoffmann is University Professor for Inclusive Education at the University of Innsbruck, deputy director of the Institute for Teacher Education and School Research, as well as chairman of the Curriculum Commission for Teacher Education and speaker of the Professor’s Curia of the Faculty of Teacher Education. He is a member of the Research Center for Medical Humanities and the Research Center for Interdisciplinary Gender Research at the University of Innsbruck.

Dr. Katja Hutter is University Professor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Innsbruck. She is Visiting Fellow at the Laboratory for Innovation Science (LISH) at Harvard University and Senior Research Associate at HYVE AG based in Munich. Her current research projects focus on the changing innovation landscapes - lean startup principles, innovation labs, and networking in innovation ecosystems - and the change to agile and digitalized business practices.

Dr. Ilse Kranner is a University Professor at the Institute of Botany at the University of Innsbruck. Her research group "Metabolism and Biochemistry of Plants" focuses, among other things, on the molecular mechanisms of plant stress responses in relation to climate change. She has many years of experience managing departments, and has been the FWF officer for biology since 2014.

Dr.-Ing. Kai Langenbach  is University Professor for Thermal Process Engineering at the University of Innsbruck and heads the Institute of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy. He is a member of the Expert Committee Molecular Modeling and Simulation for Process and Product Design and the Thermodynamics Division of ProcessNet.

Dr. Gundula Ludwig is University Professor of Social Science Theories of Gender Relations at the University of Innsbruck and head of the research platform Interdisciplinary Gender Research Innsbruck (CGI).

Dr. Stefan Mayr is University Professor of Botany and Plant Water Balance at the University of Innsbruck. He leads the research group Ecophysiology at the Institute of Botany, is spokesman of the research focus "Alpine Space" and head of various national and international research projects.

Dr. Annette Ostendorf is University Professor for Business Education at the University of Innsbruck and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration. In her research and teaching, she deals with issues of professional business competence development, corporate educational work, vocational teacher training, and the promotion of critical thinking in university teaching.

Dr. Jessica Pflüger has been University Professor of Sociology (mesosociology - social institutions and organizations) at the University of Innsbruck since October 2021. Previously, she was a professor at Ruhr University Bochum and a research associate at TU Munich, Cardiff University and FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Dr. Dirk Rupnow is University Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Innsbruck and currently Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and History. From 2010 to 2018 he directed the Institute for Contemporary History. In the university’s anniversary year 2019, he co-edited and co-authored the new 3-volume University History. He is a consultant of the Haus der Geschichte Österreich (House of History) in Vienna and chairman of the international scientific advisory board of the Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies.

Dr. Birthe Soppe is an Associate University Professor of Organization at the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Innsbruck. She is Vice Director of the international research center INTRANSIT on sustainability and digitization topics, co-initiated the working group SInG (Sustainability Interest Group) as part of the research focus group EpoS, and actively contributes to EPoS as a member of the Advisory Board.

Dr. rer. nat. Kathrin Thedieck is a University Professor at the University of Innsbruck and heads the Institute of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy. She conducts research on the control of metabolic processes in cancer and neuronal diseases. She has just been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant by the European Commission. Dr. Roland Wester is University Professor of Experimental Physics at the Institute of Ion Physics and Applied Physics at the University of Innsbruck. He is speaker of the PhD program Atoms, Light and Molecules and head of the research focus group Physics. From 2017 to 2021 he was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics.

Dr. Erol Yildiz is University Professor for the research focus group "Migration - Education - Diversity" at the University of Innsbruck. Since March 2021 he is the Dean of the Faculty of Education and spokesperson of the Research Center for Migration and Globalization.
