Open Access publishing in RSC journals


Since January 2021, university members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck are again eligible for free open access publishing with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
Members of the University of Innsbruck can publish in almost 40 RSC hybrid journals free of charge and have access to over 50 of the publisher's scientific journals.


Which journals can researchers of the university publish in?

You can publish open access in about 40 RSC journals. A title list is available here.


Who can publish open access?

Eligible are authors, who

  • are corresponding authors of the article
  • are university members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck
  • use their institutional email address in the process of submission
  • whose article was accepted in a RSC journal
  • are publishing a peer reviewed article

ATTENTION: It is not permitted to retrospectively change the corresponding author after peer review.


Procedure/Verification Process:

Please use your institutional e-mail address for the submission process! The email domain is the only identifier that confirms your affiliation with the University of Innsbruck. The affiliation is verified by RSC.
The article is published with a Creative Commons licence (CC-BY or CC BY-NC).
