Members of the University of Innsbruck can publish open access as corresponding authors in subscription-based journals of the IOP without having to pay additional article processing charges.

Which journals can scientists of the universities publish in?

You can publish open access in the subscription-based journals of the IOP offering the open choice option. You can find a list of eligible  journals here.

Who can publish open access?

Eligible are authors

  • that are members of the University of Innsbruck
  • that are “corresponding authors” of the article
  • that are publishing articles in a subscription-based journal
  • supported article types: research papers, special issue papers and letters

Procedure/Verification Process:

If the article is accepted, corresponding authors, as members of the University of Innsbruck, are informed about the option of OA publishing throughout the submission process. If authors choose this option and agree to the open access publishing of their articles under a Creative Commons licence, their affiliation with the University of Innsbruck is verified again and the article is published open access. Please use your institutional email address to facilitate the verification of your affiliation with the university. Furthermore, articles published open access under this agreement can be deposited in the repository of the University of Innsbruck without an embargo period.
Further information on the submission process can be found here.

Agreement with the FWF since 2014:

In addition, in 2014 already, the IOP, the Austrian Academic Library Consortium KEMÖ and the FWF have entered a pioneering agreement against “double dipping”, meaning the simultaneous payment of licence fees and author charges. Scientific articles on FWF projects that have been published in subscription-based journals of the IOP can be published open access at the request of the author. The FWF covers the costs of open access. The costs thus arising for the FWF are deducted from Austrian universities' licence fees for e-journals of the IOP.
