OA publishing with Institute of Physics (IOP)

 
Members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck can publish open access as corresponding authors in subscription-based as well as gold open access journals of the IOP without having to pay additional article processing charges.

Which journals can scientists of the universities publish in?

You can publish open access in subscription-based and gold open access journals of the IOP. You can find a list of eligible  journals here.

Who can publish open access?

Eligible are authors, who

  • are “submitting corresponding authors” of the article
  • are university members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck (since 2023)
  • are publishing articles in subscription-based and gold open access journals
  • supported article types: paper, special issue paper/article, review, letter, note, perspective, short communication, viewpoint, topical review, topical issue article, comment

Procedure/Verification Process:

If the article is accepted, corresponding authors, as members of the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck, are informed about the option of OA publishing during the submission process. If authors choose this option and agree to the open access publishing of their articles under a Creative Commons licence, their affiliation with the universities is verified again and the article is published open access. Please use your institutional email address to facilitate the verification of your affiliation with your university. Furthermore, articles published open access under this agreement can be deposited in the university’s repository for publications without an embargo period.


Agreement with the FWF since 2014:

Scientific articles resulting from FWF projects that are published in subscription-based and gold open access journals of the IOP can be published open access at the request of the author. The FWF covers the costs for open access.
Please note that the FWF only funds articles published under the CC BY licence.
