OA-Publishing with BioMed Central (BMC)/ SpringerOpen

Since 2018, university members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck can publish open access at reduced fees in around 500 journals of BioMed Central and SpringerOpen.


Which journals can scientists of the universities publish in?

You can publish open access in around 300 BMC journals and in approx. 200 SpringerOpen journals.


Who can publish open access?

Eligible are authors, who

  • are corresponding authors of the article
  • are university members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck
  • have no external funding organizations who finance OA publications: e.g: FWF Projects

ATTENTION: It is not permitted to retrospectively change the corresponding author.

Costs

The University of Innsbruck covers half of the costs, whereas the rest has to be covered by the author and is charged directly to him/her.

Procedure/Verification Process:

It is essential that you submit the article from the data network of the University of Innsbruck and with your institutional e-mail address (@uibk.ac.at), so that the publisher can identify you as eligible for funding. After submitting your application, the publisher will inform the library, which will confirm or clarify your affiliation to the University of Innsbruck.
The article is published under a Creative Commons licence.
