Welcome!

The IWW Office (short for “Internationale Wirtschaftswissenschaften”, which is the German expression for International Business and Economics) serves as the central hub for coordinating the study-abroad semester/year for students in the International Business and Economics Bachelor’s programme and prospective Master’s students in International Management. Our mission is to foster exchange, provide guidance, and empower students to take charge of their international academic journey.

Studying abroad is an exciting and transformative experience that requires initiative and careful planning. While students are primarily responsible for organising their mandatory semester abroad, the IWW Office is here to provide information on exchange opportunities, clear guidelines, and support throughout the process.

Our work is multifaceted, with a primary focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with our partner universities and coordinating studies abroad, offering students the chance to apply for exchange spots at prestigious international partner universities. We help students in choosing the right academic courses and facilitate the recognition of credits earned abroad. We aim to make this process as seamless as possible.

In addition to guiding our outgoing students, we also take care of incoming exchange students from our international partner universities who come to study in one of our international study programmes. Our comprehensive orientation week and ongoing support are designed to help exchange students to settle in and make the most of their time in Innsbruck. We strive to create an enriching and memorable experience that makes their exchange semester(s) at the University of Innsbruck a highlight of their studies.

Broaden your horizons. Study internationally. Shape your future.

Testimonials

Jakob Walser

IWW combines international macroeconomic perspectives with entrepreneurial education, and therefore caught my attention right from the start. After completing my studies, I now have a better understanding of our globalised economy and feel motivated to take entrepreneurial action. My year abroad at Trinity College Dublin was particularly beneficial for me. There I got to know social entrepreneurship, a lively university life, and people from different corners of the world. Nevertheless, I feel particularly connected to Innsbruck. Only in this sporty, familiar city can you take your skis straight to the exam.

testimonial

I spent my mandatory year abroad at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. The year abroad was enormously important, not only for deepening certain skills and knowledge in my field of studies but also for my personal development. The courses enable students to build up a comprehensive understanding of both intercultural management issues and international markets, and therefore, give them the necessary 'tool box' for their future career. ...Today, I'm working in the Foreign Research Division of the Central Bank of Austria, where my responsibility includes the analysis of the US, China, and Japan for monetary policy issues.
