- BeyondIceFutures: Workshop in Obergurgl
What happens after the glacier retreats? This was the main question of the BeyondIceFutures workshop held at the Universitätszentrum Obergurgl. 34 scientists from 15 countries met to discuss pathways to positive futures in deglaciating areas worldwide.

A research team from the University of Innsbruck and Jinan University investigated how heat and tree emissions, together with nitrogen oxides, intensify the formation of ground-level ozone in megacities, such as Beijing — with a clear result: tree species make the difference.

We introduce ourselves
Our faculty comprises 36 professors and lecturers, 27 research assistants (such as guest professors, senior lecturers, senior scientists and university assistants), 72 project staff, 30 student assistants and over 20 colleagues in administration and laboratories.
In the winter semester of 2025/26, approximately 1,500 people studied at our faculty. Over 900 students are enrolled in a bachelor's program, more than 500 in a master's program, and 73people are working on their dissertations.
