Europe
PLEASE NOTE: Some partner universities have specific requirements regarding the dates (winter or summer terms) and/or duration (semester or entire academic year) of the ERASMUS+ stay. For more information, please contact directly the relevant subject coordinator to find out which universities are affected.
ERASMUS+ (EuRopean Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) is the EU programme for education, youth and sports. The programme focuses on promoting mobility and transnational cooperation as well as the exchange of best practices in education and youth work.
As part of the ERASMUS+ student mobility programme, you as a Romance Studies student at the University of Innsbruck can study at a partner university in a Romance-speaking country for one semester or an entire academic year as an outgoing student and have the courses you attend abroad with positive results credited here in Innsbruck. In addition, every year incoming students from our partner universities come to Tyrol to take part in a funded ERASMUS+ stay and study Romance languages and cultures together with you.
The earliest possible start date for an ERASMUS+ stay depends on the respective study cycle (Bachelor, Master, PhD):
In the bachelor's programme, an ERASMUS+ stay abroad is possible from the third semester, i.e. after completing the first year of study. If you are interested in an ERASMUS+ stay in the second year of study you must apply for it in the first semester!
In Master's and PhD programmes, an ERASMUS+ stay abroad is possible from the first semester onwards. However, there are some restrictions in some universities, i.e., the agreements don’t cover the Master's and PhD levels at every partner university
More information on the ERASMUS+ programme can be found on the homepage of International Relations Office of the University of Innsbruck and on the website of the National Agency: http://www.erasmusplus.at/

The official application for a place and the definite acceptance of a place takes place via the LFU portal.
The deadlines are the following:
February 1st to March 31st for stays in the winter term or for the entire academic year July 1st to August 31st for stays in the summer term.
The deadline to appl for the waiting list is April 10th or September 10th.
You can find helpful information on the application process here.
4 The following steps
When the application deadlines are over and hopefully you have received a place for going Erasmus, you will receive further information and access to an OLAT course through which the International Office of the University of Innsbruck offers webinars on the next steps and where you will find further documents and checklists.
One of the most important following steps is course recognition through an Online Learning Agreement. Please keep informed early about the courses offered at your host university, as this part of the preparation is time-consuming.
Most partner universities require you to register directly with the university itself. You are responsible for obtaining the relevant information and any signatures and for meeting the deadlines – please make sure you take care of this on time and check your emails regularly.
Courses worth 30 ECTS credits per semester must be specified. This corresponds to the academic achievement of one semester.
The online learning agreement must be signed by you and your study advisor (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dr. Julia Pröll) and, if applicable, by other persons, and will subsequently also be confirmed by the host university.
A useful overwies of all the necessary steps for an ERASMUS+ stay from application to your coming back home can be found here.
As a student you have the opportunity to complete a 3-12 month internship in another European country (e.g. Belgium, France, Italy or Spain). Such internships are funded by the EU with a monthly grant. Click here for more information.
ERASMUS+ internship as a language assistant: The work as a language assistant within the ERASMUS+ programme is carried out as an ERASMUS+ internship. Host institutions are schools or kindergartens in other European countries. Only students studying Romance languages are eligible to participate.
Here is our blog on ERASMUS+ carried out by Romance Studies students at the University of Innsbruck: https://erasmusuibk.wixsite.com/romanistik
If you are interested in taking part in a language class, please contact the language teachers at our institute. A few scholarships for summer language courses are also financed by the International Relations Office.
If you are studying French, Italian or Spanish as a school subject, you have the opportunity to teach at a French, Italian or Spanish school during your BA/MA teacher training programme with a scholarship financed by the BMBWF. As a foreign language assistant at a European partner school you will not only broaden your own teaching horizons and immerse yourself in the language and culture of the partner country, but you will also have the opportunity to actively teach students in Belgium, France, Italy or Spain about the Austrian culture. Further information on the language assistant programme can be found here.
Duration of funding: up to 1 month for library visits, up to 3 months for diploma/master's theses, up to 5 months for dissertations. The current scholarship rate per month is up to 600 €. If you are interested, please contact the International Relations Office.
You may also be interested in funded stay abroad at one of our Aurora partner universities in Europe, especially in Spain (Universitat Rovira i Vergili, Tarragona) or Italy (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II).
