Über uns

Bereits seit 1976 gibt es zwischen der Universität Innsbruck und der University of New Orleans in New Orleans (USA) eine äußerst erfolgreiche Universitätspartnerschaft. Das Center New Orleans ist das Partnerschaftsbüro der Universität Innsbruck, das sämtliche Aspekte dieses Austauschs für die Universität Innsbruck koordiniert.

Das Center New Orleans an der Universität Innsbruck ist das Partnerschaftsbüro für die Universitätspartnerschaft zwischen der Universität Innsbruck und der University of New Orleans (USA). Diese Partnerschaft besteht offiziell seit 1983, informell bereits seit 1976.

Das Center New Orleans wurde 2010 mit dem Auftrag gegründet, den Rektorsbeauftragten bei der Pflege der Partnerschaft zu unterstützen und diese Partnerschaft zu fördern, sowie sämtliche Aktivitäten, die im Rahmen der Partnerschaft stattfinden, auf Innsbrucker Seite zu koordinieren. Dazu zählen u.a. ein äußerst erfolgreicher Studierenendenaustausch, der es jedes Semester zahlreichen Innsbrucker Studierenden ermöglicht an der University of New Orleans (UNO) zu für ein oder zwei Semester zu studieren.

Das CNO erteilt Informationen rund um das Studium, den Bewerbungsprozess, den Aufenthalt und Stipendienmöglichkeiten. Es bearbeitet die Bewerbungen und leitet diese an das Center Austria, dem Partnerschaftsbüro an der UNO, weiter.

Das CNO unterstützt organisatorisch und logistisch den Austausch von Gastprofessoren/innen sowie die Abhaltung von gemeinsamen Veranstaltungen (Symposien, Tagungen, etc.) sowie gemeinsame Publikationen. Es informiert Lehrende der Universität Innsbruck über Möglichkeiten der Forschung und Lehre an der UNO und an anderen Universitäten in den USA.

Das CNO hielt Kontakt zur UNO Austrian Alumni Association, einer Vereinigung von ehemaligen Studierenden an der UNO, und half bei der Organisation und Durchführung von gemeinsamen Aktivitäten und Veranstaltungen. Diese sollte helfen, ehemalige Innsbrucker Studierende - ganz im Sinne des „Alumni Gedankens“ - an ihre Alma Mater zu binden und langlebige persönliche Netzwerke zu knüpfen.

Das CNO sieht sich als Kommunikations- und Koordinationsplattform im transatlantischen akademischen Austausch.

    Dr. Gordon "Nick" Mueller opened the first UNO International Summer School in Innsbruck.

  • 1979

    UNO History Department offered a graduate fellowship to Günter Bischof, the first Innsbruck degree seeking student at UNO.
