Information for first-year students
If you have no previous knowledge of French, Italian or Spanish but would still like to study one or more of these languages, Semester courses at the Language Centre will help you acquire the necessary skills!
Since starting your studies can be challenging, we have put togehter some useful inofrmation for you below. However, please do not hesitate to use the student advisory services before the start/at the beginning of the semester (see below) and to contact the institute's staff if you have any questions.
A good command of French, Italian and Spanish is, of course, an important goal of our programme. Take advantage of the ERASMUS programme to improve your language skills!
Studying Romance languages and literatures goes far beyond learning grammatical rules. You will see that dealing with Romance languages, literatures, and cultures opens up transcultural, multilingual worlds in many ways, shifts boundaries, promotes networked thinking, and much more.
Are you interested in career prospects after graduation? Take a look at our institute's Youtube-Channel! There you will find numerous 'What happened to...' videos. We have also summarized career prospects here.
This is what the lecturers at the Innsbruck Institute of Romance Studies have to say about their subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az-de_2Wkao
