Welcome to the Faculty of Language, Literature and Culture!

The Faculty comprises a wide spectrum of disciplines from American Studies to Translation Studies. It is one of the biggest faculties at the University of Innsbruck.

Our core competences come from two closely related fields of study:

• the individual languages, literatures, media and cultures in the fields of English and American Studies, German Philology, Latin and Greek Studies, Roman Studies and Slavonic Studies
• their basics, contacts and interactions: Linguistics, Translation Studies, and Comparative Literature.

A substantial part of the Faculty of Language, Literature and Culture is communication and interaction:

• between basics and applied science (e.g. the relation between the field and teacher training)
• between the University and the public (e.g.  in country-specific research centres and the research institute Brenner-Archiv as well as the Literaturhaus am Inn)
• between regional anchoring and integration in the internationale scientific community.

Das INTRAWI im EMT-Netz­werk

Seit Kurzem ist das Institut für Translationswissenschaft (INTRAWI) Mitglied des EMT-Netzwerks der Europäischen Kommission. Die Mitgliedschaft bedeutet unter anderem, einen konstruktiven Beitrag zur nachhaltigen Weiterentwicklung von Fach und Sprachindustrie zu leisten.

Wiki­pe­dia: Bren­ner-Archiv im Fokus

Zum ersten Mal präsentierte sich diese Woche eine Einrichtung der Uni Innsbruck im Rahmen des GLAM-digital-Formats von Wikimedia Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz. Die 50. Ausgabe dieses während der Covid-Pandemie gestarteten Vermittlungsprogramms gestalteten Ulrike Tanzer und Markus Ender vom Forschungsinstitut Brenner-Archiv.

Sie­ben Pro­jekte vom FWF bewil­ligt

Bei der FWF-Kuratoriumssitzung im Mai wurden vier Einzelprojekte, ein Esprit-Projekt und zwei Schrödinger-Stipendien von Wissenschaftler:innen an der Universität Innsbruck bewilligt. Die genehmigte Fördersumme beträgt insgesamt über 2 Mio. Euro.

Rück­blick: Mas­ter Medien Netz­wer­ke­vent

Am Donnerstag, den 8. Mai 2025, fand das zweite „Master Medien Netzwerkevent“ statt, organisiert vom Team des MA Medien am Institut für Germanistik der Philologisch-Kulturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät.
