Aurora Exchange Programme
As part of the Aurora Alliance, study places are made available for semester mobilities in a network of 9 universities. Like the Erasmus+ semester mobilities, the Aurora places are processed via LFU:online.
Students of all subjects - with a few university-specific exceptions - can apply for exchange places, provided their degree program is offered at the university of their choice. Please inform yourself about the courses offered at the university of your choice. You can find useful information in the Aurora webinar series “Get to know your Universities“.
Course offer
Students from all study programmes - with some subject-specific exceptions - can apply for the exchange places, provided that their subject area is offered at the respective university of choice. Please inform yourself independently about the courses offered at the Aurora university of your choice. Useful information can also be found in the webinar series "Learn About Your Study Abroad Destination".
An exchange semester is not possible unfortunately. You can apply for participation in Aurora courses in the framework of the Summer University of Copenhagen Business School however. Further information will be published as soon as it becomes available.

Mobility Grant
A place in the Aurora Exchange Program is granted with a tuition fee waiver and a monthly mobility grant in the amount of the usual Erasmus+ funding rates. When planning the semester stay, it is mandatory to specify courses amounting to 30 ECTS per semester when drawing up the Learning Agreement (OLA). This corresponds to one semester's coursework ("no loss of progress principle").
Application process
1. Contact with the Aurora Mobility Coordinator
If you are interested in an Aurora Exchange place, the first step is to contact the Aurora Mobility Coordinator (aurora-mobility@uibk.ac.at). This person is responsible for allocating the places, knows the partner universities, can advise you on your choice and inform you about the exact requirements.
2. Official application via LFU:online
After consultation with the Aurora Mobility Coordinator, you officially apply for an Aurora Exchange place for one semester via LFU:online. Note: You can apply for a maximum of 4 mobilities in parallel in LFU:online.
Application period
01.02. – 31.03. for stays in the upcoming winter term
01.07. – 31.08. for stays in the upcoming summer term
To do this, log in to LFU:online with your C-ID.
Under "My mobilities" all available partner universities of your degree program(s) are displayed. Click on "New mobility" to start the application process. Complete the online application form in full. The following documents must be uploaded: Letter of motivation, CV and travel document (passport or identity card). Some partner universities require additional documents (e.g. proof of academic success or proof of language proficiency). Once you have officially submitted your application, the Aurora Mobility Coordinator will decide in the background whether you will be allocated a place.
The Aurora Mobility Coordinator can confirm applications on an ongoing basis from 01/02 or 01/07 or after the application deadline. You will receive an acceptance or rejection via the system. If you are accepted, you have one week to accept your nomination. After that, your application will expire automatically. As soon as you have accepted a nomination, other applications are automatically withdrawn. You can also withdraw your application at any time.
3. Further steps
After the application deadlines have passed and you have accepted the place, you will receive further information from us about the next steps. One of the most important next steps is course recognition via an Online Learning Agreement (OLA). Please find out about the courses on offer at the host university now, as this part of the preparation is very time-consuming. Think about which courses you are still missing, which courses are eligible for recognition and which courses you are particularly interested in in the courses offered by the host university.
Courses totalling 30 ECTS per semester are mandatory. This corresponds to one semester's coursework ("no loss of progress principle").
The OLA must be digitally signed by you and your academic supervisor or dean of studies and will subsequently be confirmed by the host university.
After the mobility
After completing your stay abroad it is very important that you have the examinations taken abroad recognized at the University of Innsbruck.
As soon as you have received your transcript from the host university, please have the recognition of the examinations taken abroad confirmed as soon as possible by the responsible body: Dean of Studies or Study Officer (https://www.uibk.ac.at/fakultaeten-servicestelle/pruefungsreferate/sd.html)
