Profile
Fields of work
As Professor of Educational Sciences [specialising in the theory and history of public education and epistemologies of the subject], I am assigned to two teaching and research areas: One is LuF General Educational Sciences & Historical Educational Research, the other is Luf Critical Gender Studies. I deal - very generally speaking and in a predominantly historical perspective - with bio-socio-medical knowledge formation and its subjectivisation effects, with regimes of care [in the form of early (child) psychiatry, curative education and residential care] and welfare state transformations to this day, as well as with care and body politics in gender and generational relations.
- We are working together with colleagues from Germany and Switzerland on the D-A-Ch research project: The negotiation of educational spaces in home education 1970-1990 until autumn 2025. Project homepage provides an initial insight. You can also find some open access publications that have already appeared there.
- We completed another D-A-Ch project in 2022. Political Literacy in the School of the Migration Society. Initial results of the ethnographic study can be found in: Die Wirklichkeit lesen, published in 2021 by Transcript or in the final themed issue of the Zeitschrift für Pädagogik, published in 2022 under the title "Political education in the migration society". An application for an extension is currently being submitted to the DGfE for a second reading.
- If you would like an overview of the joint work on the violent history of child and youth welfare and child psychiatry in the region, please refer to the two books published by Studienverlag: Home childhoods(2017) and Psychiatrised childhoods (2020).
