Migration and education

The department deals with intercultural pedagogy, discusses transcultural educational processes, as well as migration pedagogy and diversity-conscious education. Thematically, we deal with migration and flight, immigrant population groups, post-migrant generational relations, criticism of racism, solidarity and urbanity. We will ask what conclusions can be drawn for Educational Sciences research and pedagogical practice from dealing with migration and education.

Migration moves and educates

In the teaching and research area of migration and education, we take a critical stance towards approaches that advocate ethnicising and essentialising positions on questions of migration and develop new, contemporary theoretical ideas and methodological perspectives. In this way, we aim to contribute to diversity-conscious practice in educational fields of action.
