HiJoS - Workshop on Hiring and Job Search

On 19–21 May 2025, the University of Innsbruck hosted the HiJoS (Hiring and Job Search) Workshop at Seehof Innsbruck. The event brought together leading researchers in labor economics from across Europe and beyond to discuss recent empirical and experimental work on hiring, job search, and information frictions in labor markets.

Organized by Sebastian Butschek and Andreas Steinmayr (University of Innsbruck) together with Roland Rathelot (ENSAE, IP Paris, and CREST), the workshop was part of the Jubiläumsfonds-funded project “Do firms lack information about their own labor market?”

The program offered a wide range of perspectives—from job seeker behavior and firm responses to policy interventions—and shed light on how incomplete information influences labor market outcomes and matching efficiency.
