TOPIC: Recent legal cases have highlighted the risks associated with the use of AI systems. To understand these
risks, it is essential to deepen our understanding of human vulnerability. The talk showcases the research to be
pursued within the FemCareer fellowship awarded to the speaker by the University of Innsbruck. The first part
of the presentation focuses on the conception of human vulnerability in the AI Act. The second part develops
approaches to mitigate these vulnerabilities at both the individual and systemic levels.
SPEAKER: Silvia Corradi studied Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Trento, where she also obtained a
Ph.D. in Comparative and European Legal Studies with a dissertation in philosophy of law. After completing her

(“assegnista di ricerca”). Her research interests in philosophy of law focus on two main areas that intersect with
legal studies: technology and ethics. The first area encompasses the philosophy of science, the philosophy of
techno-science, the philosophy of technology, and the regulation of artificial intelligence. The second includes
legal ethics, metaethics, virtue ethics, virtue jurisprudence, virtue epistemology, and legal rhetoric.
