Welcome to the Twenty-fourth International Working Seminar on Production Economics
February 23-27, 2026.

 

Objective

The purpose of this conference is to provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to meet, present and develop ideas on subjects within the field of Production Economics, which treats the interface between engineering and economics/management. The ultimate objective is to create and develop knowledge for improving industrial practice and to strengthen the methodological and theoretical base for supporting sound decision making. The conference will be organised on-site in Innsbruck.

Abstracts and full papers

Participants who wish to present papers are requested to send an abstract, not exceeding 250 words (in Word format), to the Programme Committee by November 1, 2025 at the latest. Acceptance of abstracts will be notified to authors by December 1, 2025. The number of participants will be limited. Full papers should be submitted by January 14, 2026.

Papers presented can be submitted for publication after the conference. Accepted papers after a regular review process will be published in a virtual special issue of the International Journal of Production Economics by Elsevier according to the procedure required by the journal.

 

Presentation and discussion

The conference is a Working Seminar intending to provide ample opportunities for interaction between Authors, Discussants and Audience. Each paper will be given 45 minutes, including 30 minutes of presentation and 15 minutes of discussion. A discussant will be appointed for each paper. The intention is that studies presented, and the discussion of them, will result in concrete ideas for future research and developments. Conference participants are expected to act as discussants within their field of expertise. Participants are therefore recommended to join the sessions of the conference for at least three of the four days. The conference language is English.

The submitted papers will not be published with copy-righted proceedings, so that the latter improved version can be submitted to journals. However, papers will be distributed to all participants, but are only used for the conference.

 

Organisation of sessions

The conference sessions will begin Tuesday and end Friday, organized in morning sessions 8.00-11.30 am and evening sessions (except Friday) 7.00-9.15 pm. Afternoons will be free for other activities. A reception and registration will be held on Monday evening.

 

Special sessions

Some special sessions will be organised by the Committee members. You are welcome to submit your paper to such sessions. So far the following special session has been confirmed:
Design and operation of Engineer to Order production systems, supply chains and networks in a turbulent world, Prof. M. M. Naim.

 

Registration and fee

The conference fee is €500 including VAT. The fee covers reception, morning and evening coffees, farewell cocktails, and conference materials.
