Launched on 1 October 2025, DIGISOC is a new European Joint Master’s programme for students who want to understand and shape digital transformation as a social challenge.

Together from Day One.

DIGISOC turns internationalisation into the operating principle of a Master’s programme.

The European Joint Master’s Programme Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship (DIGISOC) brings together the University of Innsbruck, the University of Naples Federico II and Palacký University Olomouc in a shared study programme taught in English. Across four semesters and 120 ECTS credits, students work at the intersection of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, social innovation and global citizenship.

International by design.

DIGISOC does not treat international experience as an optional add-on. Internationalisation is built into the curriculum, governance, teaching formats and student life cycle: joint learning outcomes, international team teaching, short-term mobility, summer schools, hybrid collaboration and shared quality assurance form one coherent model.

The programme also strengthens Internationalisation@Home. Students who cannot spend long periods abroad still learn in an international cohort, collaborate across countries and disciplines, and develop intercultural and transdisciplinary competences in guided digital and hybrid formats.

Mobility alone is not enough. Recognition, support, digital connectivity and shared quality standards are decisive.

A living laboratory for European higher education.

At Innsbruck, DIGISOC connects academic fields such as statistics and data science, artificial intelligence, ethics, governance and digital humanism with administrative structures, international relations, quality assurance and digital teaching infrastructure. The result is more than a degree programme: it is an institutional learning process for joint programmes, European Degree readiness, recognition procedures and inclusive mobility.

A room built for hybrid collaboration.

With the start of the 2025/2026 winter semester, the University of Innsbruck also put a new hybrid teaching and learning room for DIGISOC into operation. The room was designed for international teaching scenarios in which students and lecturers at different partner universities can work together in real time. It supports formats that connect digital technologies with a student-centred approach and, starting with the first DIGISOC cohort, provides a physical and digital setting for cross-campus collaboration from the beginning of the programme.

This infrastructure links directly to the programme’s mobility concept. Shortly after the launch of the first cohort, students and lecturers met in Olomouc for the first Summer School, organised as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme. The hybrid room makes this rhythm of online collaboration and in-person exchange part of everyday learning rather than an exceptional event.

What students take with them.

DIGISOC prepares graduates to act as socio-digital innovators: professionals who understand digital technologies and can translate them into responsible, inclusive and sustainable social solutions. Career paths include public administration, policy advice, NGOs, international organisations, social enterprises, innovation labs, companies working on digital transformation and sustainability, and research on digitalisation and social change.
