ISAM has a long tradition and aims at bringing together researchers of all fields of anaerobic microbiology.

- Molecular approaches to analyse anaerobic communities
The symposium will bring interesting keynote talks, invited talks, and poster sessions with lightning presentations. Abstract submission is open now, and will close mid of March 2023!
The ISAM is known for its relaxed and collaborative atmosphere, that promotes lively scientific discussions and networking. A special social event this year shall foster synergies amongst scientists even further. And, of course, the traditional Pétanque tournament will take place.
The ISAM conference series especially encourages PhD students/early career scientists to submit abstracts for oral presentations.

ISAMonline2021
On June 16 and 17, 2021, the 'International Symposium on Anaerobic Microbiology - ISAM2021 online' was held in Innsbruck, organized by the Institute of Microbiology of the University of Innsbruck. The symposium covered a very broad range of topics, from ruminal microbiology to the role of anaerobic fungi and the biotechnological use of anaerobes in biogas processes.
The meeting had to be postponed to 2021 due to the Corona pandemic and therefore took place as a scaled-down online event. Despite this, we can look back at a successful ISAMonline 2021 conference with over 40 researchers of twelve different nations.
We would like to thank all participants and speakers for these two days filled with fruitful discussions and keeping the network of anaerobic microbiology thriving under these exceptional conditions!
