Part C: Biogenic residual waste potentials
Funding:
This project is conducted in cooperation with the alpS Centre of Climate Change Adaption. It is funded the COMET programme of the BMVIT (Federal Ministry of Traffic, Innovation and Technology) and the BMWFJ (Federal Ministry for Economy, Family and Youth) and administrated by the FFG (Austrian Research Promotion Agency). Furthermore, alpS is co-funded by the Austrian Provinces of Tyrol and Vorarlberg.
Funding period: 04/2013 – 03/2014
Synopsis:
Due to the climate change and the increasing shortage of fossil fuels the conditions for a sustainable energy supply are under constant change. As there is only a limited regional potential of renewable and socially accepted energy, all existing potentials and technologies must be examined with regard to their sustainability. The aim of the project is the development of a new pyrolysis process to convert biogenic residues to biochar and pyrolysis oil. These products can then be used for the production of heat or high quality soil products. Furthermore, the preparation of other types of metal-containing wastes, which cannot be treated with existing methods, will be investigated.
