Learning and controlling the quantum properties of molecules

We aim to learn about the quantum properties of single molecular ions and to control their quantum state using methods that have been developed for quantum computing with atoms.

Our research interests include:

  • Spectroscopy on single molecular ions.
  • Characterization of quantum processes in molecules.
  • Controlling the quantum state of molecules.

Philipp Schindler is interested in learning how quantum effects in complex molecules affect their behavior and to what extend the molecule‘s quantum properties can be controlled.  The research aims to transfer methods that have been developed for quantum computing with atoms to complex molecules and other systems such as free electrons.
