New Specialized BA Curricula: French and Francophone Studies, Italian Studies, Spanish and Latin American Studies

Starting in the 2026/2027 winter semester (October 1, 2026): Check it out! Switch over!

Am 01.10.2026 treten unsere neuen Fach-BA-Curricula in Kraft.

On October 1, 2026, our new specialized BA curricula will take effect.

What’s new in the BA program?

  • Attractive new specialized BA program titles that emphasize our increased focus on non-European Romance-language and cultural regions: French and Francophone Studies, Italian Studies, Spanish and Latin American Studies
  • Engaging new language practice formats (including those with practical applications), e.g., “Roundtable on Current Media Reports,” “Creative Language Project,” and much more
  • Combined modules (e.g., courses in linguistics and literary studies)
  • Greater emphasis on project work
  • One (more extensive) bachelor’s thesis (in linguistics, literary studies, or cultural studies) instead of two shorter ones. This allows for an in-depth exploration of a topic in literary studies, linguistics, or cultural studies
  • A wide selection of elective modules for individual specialization based on personal interests

Who can switch programs?

Anyone.

If you’re interested, please feel free to contact the academic advisor, Julia Pröll.

Don’t want to switch and started your degree program before October 1, 2026?

You’ll remain on the old curriculum and can complete it within a maximum of eight semesters (Section 14, Paragraph 2). Only then will you be automatically transferred to the new curriculum.
