About us

Why a digital archive?

In 2015, Prof. Albert Gier donated a substantial collection of materials and documentation relating to libretto research to the Archive for Text and Music Studies at the Department of Romance Studies in Innsbruck.

This “untapped treasure” now resides in our archive. The collection has been fully digitised and this website created. In this way, the libretto texts can finally serve as valuable primary data for relevant research, for they are available as “Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (=FAIR) Data”.
