Tenure Track 2.0 Professors

Qualification as Assistant Professor

(S2+)

At the start of the qualification period, the assistant professor receives a six-year tenured contract.

• Extended protection against dismissal
• Salary group A2 (§ 49.2)
• 4 semester hours per week teaching obligation
• Midterm report

The qualification period lasts 5 years. The evaluation is started after the 5th year at the latest.

Associate Professor

(S3)

Upon attainment of the agreed qualification, the assistant professor becomes an associate professor.

• Permanent employment contract
• Salary group A2/2 (§ 49.2a)
• Full teaching duties (8 semester hours per week)
• Independent supervision of theses
• Member of the group of university professors under organisational law

University Professor upon reaching the S4 level

(§99 4 UG)

Associate professors with outstanding achievements can be appointed as university professors in a simplified, university-internal procedure in accordance with §99(4).
