At the last FWF Board of Trustees meeting, three 'individual' projects and four '1000 Ideas' projects were approved. Three 'international individual' projects had already been approved in May. The total amount of funding approved is just under €3 million. Another project is being funded by the Austrian National Bank's anniversary fund.

The institute of geology is represented twice in the '1000 ideas' projects. There is the project from Christoph Spötl " Speleothems fill the gaps in the Paleolithic period Armeniens" and the project from Patric Simoes Pereira about "Antarctic sedimentation processes through U-Th dating" that get funded.
