Mediaevistics
The institute supervises the philosophical parts of the theological degree programmes at the University of Innsbruck, as well as an Bachelor's degree- and an Master's programme Philosophy. In addition, the PhD programme of the Faculty of Catholic Theology with a specialisation in Philosophy (C794 140 030) can be studied.
Focus of research and teaching:
- analytical ontology
- philosophical anthropology and philosophy of mind
- the investigation of philosophical prerequisites of religious-ideological dialogue
- epistemology (especially social epistemology and problems of the concept of knowledge)
- Ethics (especially metaethics and applied ethics)
- Source studies and research into the philosophy of the Middle Ages
- Philosophy of religion
- Specifically, we are currently working within the framework of the Philosophy of Religion research centre and within the major international Analytic Theology project. In addition, the Institute also runs the doctoral programme "Philosophy of Religion".

- Organisation of regular guest professorships and guest lectures
- Management of a Wittgenstein archive (manuscripts from his estate on microfilm)
- Management of a microfilm archive of medieval manuscripts and numerous early prints
These facilities are also available to students.
In addition, our teaching staff also contribute to the various theological study programmes at the university or at Faculty of Teacher Education. Other courses are designed to complement the curricula of other faculties, such as Faculty of Social Sciences or DiSC. We are also involved in ethics teacher training in cooperation with KPH Edith Stein and offer guest students the opportunity to put together an individual programme from our exciting range of courses.
