Goal: Discover new strategies for expanding and maintaining your professional and personal network while connecting with researchers from diverse faculties and departments of the UIBK.

Content: The RESI network of the University of Innsbruck provides a regional and international network with research institutions and industry to help you in your future career. This workshop will give you new insights on how to develop authentic strategy to build up your personal and professional network. We will discuss the challenges and obstacles of maintaining and managing a network that truly aligns with your goals and needs. The event also offers a valuable opportunity to get in touch with researchers from different faculties and departments of the UIBK.

Apply to join the next p2i online course cohort starting 23 October 2026. Familiarise yourself with the language, concepts, tools and frameworks used in the entrepreneurial world and get access to a practical step-by-step guide to support you with developing your idea into a business case to secure funding: whether this is for academic research, industry collaboration or to commercialise your research. The course is online and runs over 8 weeks to fit alongside your work commitments.

This course was developed by the p2i consortium, a group of prominent research institutions and global businesess, led by University of Cambridge. This course demystifies the entrepreneurial process to start a business and highlights similarities between researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs.

The self directed online course is most suitable for postdocs and advanced phd-students from any discipline who are:

open to learning to think and act entrepreneurially in academia, industry and in ventures
ready to develop entrepreneurial skills & confidence - to engage with external stakeholders to create impact from research
curious about entrepreneurship
keen to learn the process to take a/their (business) idea into reality
keen to develop their networks.

Goal: Familiarise you with the basic principles of storytelling and to sensitise you for applications in and outside your research field.

Content: In order to bring people around you in favour of your cause, you need clear messages and strong stories. With a god story and message everything sticks easier. In this workshop you will learn how to create a simple, surprising and well-structured story for your listener or audience:

Understanding Storytelling Fundamentals: Learn the essential principles of storytelling and how they can be applied both within and outside the scientific realm.
Practical Application: Develop your own storytelling techniques and strategies for integrating these skills into your research and presentations.
Interactive Learning: Engage in hands-on activities to create and refine your storytelling approach, tailored to your specific field of study.

Lecturer: Florian Höllerl leads the workshop who has been working in the film and media industry for over 20 years. His activities include the conception and development of TV documentary productions for ORF, 3Sat, ARTE and the production and conception of social media content projects.
