… to the website of the Unit of Concrete Structures and Bridge Engineering. The unit is part of the Department of Structural Engineering and Material Sciences at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and has been coordinated by Univ.-Prof. Andreas Pürgstaller since October 2026. In teaching, it covers reinforced and prestressed concrete, bridge engineering and masonry construction, from new construction to work on existing structures. In research, the unit is dedicated to the sustainable and digital advancement of structural concrete. Key areas include the strengthening and repair of existing structures, the long-term preservation of bridges and tunnels, and industrialized and modular construction with precast elements and innovative connection technology, often in close cooperation with funding agencies and industry.
