Desde Granada al Mundo: Voices on a Journey is a bilingual radio program that was created during an excursion to Granada organized by the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Innsbruck. The focus was on flamenco, which is deeply rooted in Andalusian culture. It became clear that flamenco is more than just music or dance. Anyone who explores it, encounters topics such as marginalization, cultural identity, and resistance. The program focused in particular on the gitanos, the Spanish Roma, whose influence on flamenco is central, but whose reality is often marked by exclusion. Our program is an acoustic travel diary: personal impressions, critical reflections, and classic flamenco pieces. We also mix Spanish and German because cultural dialogue thrives on multilingualism – and because we, as students, are also in a learning process.
