Diversity promotion at the University of Innsbruck 2026

Funded by the Förderkreis 1669 of the University of Innsbruck

The funding programme supports projects in research, teaching and administration at the University of Innsbruck that deal with the topics of equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion.

Funding is available for projects from all faculties and organisational units that have a clearly recognisable social relevance and a connection to research, teaching or the university's internal culture. They must be independent projects; existing activities cannot be funded.

  1. Research projects on equal social opportunities, diversity and inclusion
Funding is available for scientific projects that deal with issues relating to social justice, diversity and inclusive participation. Projects with a clear practical relevance that contribute to the promotion of discrimination-sensitive and fair social coexistence are particularly welcome.
  2. Teaching projects on equal social opportunities, diversity and inclusion
Funding is available for teaching formats that integrate topics such as equal social opportunities, diversity and inclusion into innovative teaching and learning concepts, strengthen the critical discourse on these topics and/or contribute to the development of corresponding competences among students and teaching staff.
  3. Promotion of a pluralistic culture within the university
Funding is available for initiatives that contribute to an open, diverse and discrimination-sensitive university culture. This includes, in particular, projects that strengthen dialogue and the visibility of diverse life realities within the university, break down structural barriers and improve inclusive study and working conditions. The aim is to promote a university environment in which all members - regardless of origin, gender, social status, disability, sexual orientation, religion or other characteristics - feel respected, safe and included.

In principle, all employees of the University of Innsbruck can submit projects on the topic. It must be ensured that the project leader has an active employment relationship with the University of Innsbruck for the entire duration of the project (this can, but does not have to be financed from the funds of the project applied for).

The maximum funding per project is EUR 20,000 with a maximum duration of 12 months. Funded projects can begin after approval by the board of trustees of the funding organisation and must be completed after 12 months, at the latest in 2027.

Only the following project-specific costs can be applied for

  • Personnel costs in accordance with the collective agreement
  • Material and travelling expenses

  • Congress travel
  • Catering costs
  • Teacher compensation
  • Infrastructure and equipment costs

Funding decisions will be made by the Board of Trustees of Förderkreis 1669 and are expected to be announced in May 2026. Evaluation criteria are the contribution to the objectives of the call and the feasibility of the planned project.

  • During the agreed project duration, an employment relationship with the University of Innsbruck must exist. Employment solely through an external teaching assignment is not sufficient.
  • The duration of the project should not exceed 12 months. After completion of the project, a detailed final statement (SAP extract) and a final report must be submitted via upload to the project database.
  • Applicants undertake to cite Förderkreis 1669 as the funding organisation in all public documents and to mention the funding in publications.
  • Funded projects are expected to participate in measures to support the public relations work of the Förderkreis 1669.

Please note that formal fulfilment of all application requirements does not imply any legal entitlement to financial support.
