The most important thing is not to stop asking questions. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. – Albert Einstein
The Research Centre for Health and Prevention across the Lifespan brings together internal departments at the University of Innsbruck and external partners engaged in prevention and health-related research. Key participants include the Centre for Child and Adolescent Health (Department of Psychology), the Centre for Health and Ageing (Department of Sport Science) and the Centre for Health and Ageing (Innsbruck Medical University).
The theoretical framework is a biopsychosocial model aimed at identifying resilience, as well as risk and protective factors, for the maintenance and restoration of mental and physical health across all age groups (childhood, adolescence and old age).
The research is interdisciplinary in nature and utilises a broad spectrum of methods, ranging from psychological-diagnostic, quantitative and qualitative procedures to neuroscientific, molecular biological, genetic, neurophysiological and sports physiology approaches.
The focus is on developing methods and investigating processes and preventive measures that promote prosocial behaviour, humane conditions, and mental and physical health throughout the entire lifespan.
Objectives of the research centre:
- Establishment of a doctoral programme
- Regular meetings to discuss joint publications, projects and applications for external funding
- Creating synergies between laboratories and resources
- Regular research and academic days
- Creation of sustainable synergies to strengthen the faculty’s international visibility and profile
- Establishing and deepening links with the Life and Health Science Cluster
- Strengthening cooperation within the University of Innsbruck, as well as with the Medical University of Innsbruck and external partners
