Human Vulnerability in the Age of AI

Recent legal cases have highlighted the risks associated with the use of AI systems. To understand these risks, it is essential to deepen our understanding of human vulnerability. The talk showcases the research to be risks, it is essential to deepen our understanding of human vulnerability. The talk showcases the research to be pursued within the FemCareer fellowship awarded to the speaker by the University of Innsbruck. The first part of the presentation focuses on the conception of human vulnerability in the AI Act. The second part develops approaches to mitigate these vulnerabilities at both the individual and systemic levels.

Silvia Corradi, University of Trento

Silvia Corradi studied Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Trento, where she also obtained a Ph.D. in Comparative and European Legal Studies with a dissertation in philosophy of law. After completing her doctorate, she worked at the Department of Law of the University of Palermo as a postdoctoral fellow (“assegnista di ricerca”). Her research interests in philosophy of law focus on two main areas that intersect with legal studies: technology and ethics. The first area encompasses the philosophy of science, the philosophy of techno-science, the philosophy of technology, and the regulation of artificial intelligence. The second includes legal ethics, metaethics, virtue ethics, virtue jurisprudence, virtue epistemology, and legal rhetoric.
