LEARN-OUT – Education through Natural and Cultural Heritage

The Interreg Italy-Austria project "LEARN-OUT" aims to establish a cross-border network of institutions that contribute to strengthening cultural and natural heritage, including museums, nature parks and nature-oriented tourism regions. This network is to be optimised through development of sustainable, educational tourism offerings.
The initiative focuses on three key areas: management, educational innovation and the development of the "learning through visiting" tourism model.
As part of "LEARN-OUT", an edugame is also being developed that is aimed at both tourists and locals. The game and the learning model will bes tested for effectiveness and sustainability in four European pilot regions in collaboration with participating cultural and natural institutions.
Project information:
- Supported EU project: Project duration from 2024-2025 with a total budget of € 834.295,93
- Sustainable project goal: Creation of a cross-border network of small cultural and natural heritage sites, as well as strengthening the joint tourist offering with a focus on the educational aspect of the visit
The following measures are important in this regard:
- Strengthening the management of cultural and natural heritage through cross-border exchanges and study visits between operators and other stakeholders/experts
- Strengthening education through cultural and natural heritage through innovation in teaching methods, increased interactivity and accessibility of knowledge
- Definition of a tourist offering based on the concept of "learning through visiting", the LEARN-OUT model, while creating greater incentives for local communities
- Improvement of cross-border knowledge and usability of sites through the development of new digital solutions
