The LANTTI research group
The LANTTI group is an international research group with members from universities in four different countries who have been conducted research together since late 2019. The current members are Enrique Cerezo Herrero of University of Valencia (Spain), Melita Koletnik of University of Maribor (Slovenia), Astrid Schmidhofer of University in Innsbruck (Austria), and Jim Ureel of University of Antwerp (Belgium).
The work of the LANTTI group and their main research interests are as follows:
- Translation- and Interpreting-Oriented Language Learning and Teaching (TILLT): We focus on aligning additional language instruction with the specific needs of translator and interpreter training programmes, emphasising pedagogical approaches that go beyond general language proficiency.
- Competence-Based Translator Education: We share an interest in developing and refining models of translator and interpreter’s language competence and expertise, ensuring that language skills are taught in ways that directly support professional translation and interpreting tasks.
- Integration of Digital Tools in Language and Translation Learning: Lately our focus has shifted towards exploring how technologies affect TILLT , translation performance, and revision skills, aiming to adapt teaching practices to the evolving demands of the translation profession.
- Empirical and Corpus-Based Methodologies: Our research frequently involves the use of empirical classroom studies to assess linguistic performance, error types, and the effectiveness of pedagogical interventions in translator and interpreter training.
