Philosopher and Theologian Claudia Paganini is a researcher and lecturer at the University of Innsbruck. Her academic focus is on media ethics, but she also deals with issues of medical, animal and environmental ethics. In this context, she primarily focuses on the legal-philosophical justification and media representation of climate activism. Paganini supports fact-based debates on the climate crisis.

About
Claudia Paganini studied Philosophy and Theology at the Universities of Innsbruck and Vienna. In 2005, she obtained her doctorate in Cultural Philosophy, and in 2018 she habilitated at the Munich School of Philosophy, focusing on Media Ethics. Academic residencies led her to Athens, Limerick, Milan, and Zagreb. Between 2021 and 2024, she held a professorship in Media Ethics at the Munich School of Philosophy before returning to the University of Innsbruck.
In the field of Media Ethics, Paganini focuses on ethical principles of journalism and advocates media representatives as well as political decision-makers. She analyzes the media representation of the climate crisis, from the tabloid press to gaming. Paganini is a co-initiator of the platform “Action Instead of Criminalization.” The platform was launched by a group of scientists to take a stand against the increasing criminalization of climate activism. Paganini is the author of several books.
