90 years ago, on 24 October 1930, Johan Galtung, the "father of Peace Studies" was born. He was the first to investigate peace through a transdisciplinary lens, ranging from sociology and political science to religion, economy, psychology and pedagogy.

He was the first to investigate peace through a transdisciplinary lens, ranging from sociology and political science to religion, economy, psychology and pedagogy.He was founder of the International Peace Research Institute of Oslo PRIO in 1959 and the Journal of Peace Research in 1964.
He was mediating in many international conflicts and consulting diverse institutions and governments.
