As this unit consists of a dedicated and passionate team of scholars with various backgrounds, it creates a transdisciplinary approach to peace education. Decolonial and intersectional perspectives constitute the core of the program, while a multitude of theories and practices of peace are taught in a variety of contexts and in a plurality of ways. This engagement also leads to various interesting excursions organized and planned by the dedicated staff. Within this familiar, tight knit unit, the students' individuality is prioritized and close engagement within the student body but also between the students and  educators is intended. The class environment fosters inclusivity and encourages the engagement of all students and their various academic and lived backgrounds. By engaging with one another we can learn and grow together, which is the central focus of the international close knit Unit for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Innsbruck . 

Additionally, this programme adopts a combination of academic and experiential didactics, which is why our Peace and Conflict Studies MA programme is quite unique in that it also includes courses on conflict transformation and civilian peacekeeping missions in the form of simulated Civil-Military Cooperation exercises (CIMIC) involving a number of partner organizations. Many of our alumni are dedicated professionals working for intergovernmental organizations, grassroot initiatives, academic institutions and other entities trying to positively impact today's world.

The Unit for Peace and Conflict Studies comprises the MA Programme Peace and Conflict Studies, the Research Centre InnPeace, the UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies, and collaborates with a number of partner organizations and alumni initiatives.
