Visiting Professor Kazuya Sase

We welcome our visiting professor Kazuya Sase from Virtual Reality Lab, Tohoku Gakuin University, Japan, to igs group!

His research focuses on haptic rendering for virtual reality and its applications in education, medicine, and robotics. In particular, he has worked on real-time simulations of deformable objects using the finite element method for surgical simulators. He is also interested in representing haptic distribution to reproduce the tactile sensation of soft materials, especially for robotic teleoperation.

From September 2025 to August 2026, Kazuya Sase will be a visiting professor at Interactive Graphics and Simulation research group to promote interdisciplinary research and discussion on data-driven haptic rendering.
During his stay, he will also share his expertise with interested students in selected lectures.
