Prizes of the fac­ulty

Prizes will be awarded in two categories. The prerequesites you can find here. Deadline 31.1.2026

Prizes will be awarded in two categories for the 2024/25 academic year:

- Best assessed dissertation
- Best assessed master's thesis

A total of € 2,400 will be awarded for the best dissertation and € 1,200 for the best Master's thesis. In each category, the prize can be divided among a maximum of three theses.

Prizes are awarded for current and outstanding theses in the doctoral and Master's degree programmes offered at the Faculty.

All graduates of the relevant doctoral or Master's degree programmes at the University of Innsbruck in the academic year 2024/25 are eligible to apply.

The following are prerequisites for submission:

- For the best dissertation:

o Completion of the doctoral programme between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025 (date of the notification of the award of the academic degree)

o Excellently assessed dissertation

- For the best Master's thesis:

o Completion of the Master's programme 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025 (date of the notification of the award of the academic degree)

o Excellently assessed Master's thesis

Applications must include the following information/evidence:

(1) The completed application form (Master's thesis application form / Dissertation application form)

(2) Dissertation or Master's thesis (electronic)

(3) Field of study and start of studies as well as proof of duration of studies (enclose the online sheet ‘Studienblatt und Studienzeitbestätigung’)

(4) Copy of the certificate of the final board examination in the case of a dissertation (Rigorosenzeugnis) and the notification of the award of the academic degree

(5) In the case of a dissertation: copies of all dissertation reports

(6) Brief description of the topic of the dissertation or Master's thesis in German (half page)

(7) Curriculum vitae, academic career and, if applicable, list of publications of the applicant

(8) Short CV in 5-8 sentences in German (for the ceremony)

(9) Letter of motivation (why your scientific work should be honoured, 1 page)

A jury made up of members of the faculty will decide on the awards.

The prizes are expected to be awarded at a ceremony in spring/summer 2026.
