Funding
EPoS provides a range of funding opportunities to the researchers, research centres and research groups involved in the Research Area.
We accept applications for event funding on an ongoing basis. The applications must be submitted no later than 6 weeks BEFORE the event.
Target group
EPoS gives priority to inter- or transdisciplinary, international events that connect and highlight different areas within our focus. The events should be organised in Innsbruck or the surrounding area. We expect that the funding will be used prudently.
Funding requirements
Membership of the EPoS Research Area is a prerequisite. Research activities must have been attributed to the programme’s focus area within the last three years.
Events eligible for funding
- Guest lectures (travel and accommodation costs)
- Workshops
- Conferences/Congresses
- Research retreats
The following are not covered
- Fee notes
- Printing costs (except for advertising material for the event)
- Activities with no recognisable connection to the Research Area
The amount of funding awarded depends on the funds available. A detailed and transparent breakdown of the overall event must accompany each funding application.
There is no legal entitlement to funding. We kindly ask that you submit a final account for any funding granted within 8 weeks of the event. Please note the annual accounting deadlines of our finance department.
Visibility
Our logo must be used on printed matter, slides and/or digital materials, and/or EPoS must be named/linked to as the funding organisation. The funded activity(ies) must be assigned to the EPoS Research Area in the Research Performance Documentation (FLD). Multiple assignments are possible. This does not affect the assignment to institutes or research centres.
Please refer to our information sheet for the processing of approved funding: Information sheet
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions: epos@uibk.ac.at
Through this call for proposals, the Research Area is funding research activities in the field of EPoS. The funding is aimed exclusively at early-career researchers within the Research Area who are currently undertaking their PhD or in the early stages of their post-doctoral research (non-tenured). Funding will primarily be awarded to research ideas that are innovative and relevant to the present day, and which contribute to responsible business, politics and society. Within this broad field, all research topics and methods are welcome. Sustainable, interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects are particularly encouraged and will be given priority over other applications.
Funding is available for the costs of field studies, travel expenses, data analysis and associated costs. Personnel costs, printing costs and the financing of specific technical equipment are not eligible for funding.
The funding aims to advance research projects that are still at an early stage and is intended to help researchers apply for external research funding. The proposed research activities must be carried out within one year.
Next submission deadline: expected in January 2027
The aim of this funding is to support researchers in finalising publications or high-quality research grant applications.
- Finalising an article for submission to a leading journal
- Revision of articles for top international journals
- Editorial preparation of a high-quality anthology
- Finalising a paper for an international conference with a double-blind review process
- Joint applications for larger research funding projects (FWF, ÖNB, ERC, etc.)
The result must be submitted to the Research Area in the form of a revised draft (journal article), a final draft (conference contribution) or a draft grant application.
Applications can be submitted at any time and will be decided upon promptly. Please email: epos@uibk.ac.at
