Innsbruck is a vibrant Alpine city located in the heart of the Tyrol region, offering an inspiring setting where urban life meets a stunning mountain landscape.
International Airports
There are several international airports available for participants arriving from abroad, including Vienna International Airport (VIE), Munich Airport (MUC, Germany), Zurich Airport (ZRH, Switzerland), and Innsbruck Airport (INN). Depending on your flight schedule and country of origin, please select the most convenient airport (see Ground Transportation for connecting trains).
Innsbruck Airport is the closest airport to the conference venue, located approximately 4 km from the city center. The airport offers regular direct flights to major European cities such as Vienna, Amsterdam, London, and seasonal destinations.
From Innsbruck Airport, it takes approximately 20 minutes to reach Innsbruck Main Station (Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof) or the city center by public bus (Lines F and A). Taxi and ride-hailing services are also available, with a journey time of approximately 10–15 minutes depending on traffic.
Ground Transportation / Trains
From Vienna, the fastest way to reach Innsbruck is by taking the high-speed Railjet (RJ/RJX) service operated by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). The journey from Vienna Central Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof) to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof takes approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes.
From Munich (Germany), direct EuroCity (EC), Railjet (RJ), and regional trains connect Munich Central Station (München Hauptbahnhof) with Innsbruck in approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours, making it one of the easiest international rail connections to Austria.
From Zurich (Switzerland), direct Railjet and EuroCity services connect Zurich to Innsbruck in approximately 3.5 hours.
The conference venue can be conveniently reached on foot, by tram, or by local bus.
Innsbruck
is the capital of the Austrian state of Tyrol and is internationally renowned for its spectacular Alpine scenery, rich cultural heritage, and winter sports traditions. Nestled in the heart of the Alps, the city combines a charming medieval Old Town with modern infrastructure.
Most participants will arrive at Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof, the city's main railway station, which is well connected by tram and bus services. The city center and many conference venues are within walking distance or can be reached in just a few minutes using Innsbruck's public transportation network.
During their free time, participants may wish to explore some of Innsbruck's most famous attractions:
Golden Roof – the city's iconic landmark, located in the heart of the historic Old Town.
Hofburg Innsbruck– the former imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty.
Nordkette Cable Cars – offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding Alps within minutes from the city center.
Bergisel Ski Jump – an architectural landmark designed by Zaha Hadid with an observation platform and restaurant.
Ambras Castle – a Renaissance castle housing impressive art and armor collections.
Alpine Zoo Innsbruck– Europe's highest-altitude zoo, featuring native Alpine wildlife.
These attractions are easily accessible by tram or bus and can be comfortably visited during participants' free time.
IMPORTANT:
Participants staying at least two nights at a participating accommodation provider will receive the free Welcome Card, issued by their accommodation. The card includes:
- Free use of public transportation (buses, trams, and regional trains) throughout the Innsbruck region
- Free use of the City Bike Innsbruck system for 24 hours
- Discounts on guided activities, museums, swimming pools, and other attractions
For stays of three nights or more, the Welcome Card Plus additionally includes free rides on selected mountain lifts and cable cars, including access to some of the region's most popular alpine destinations. The card is also valid on the day of arrival and departure.
Participants are encouraged to check with their hotel or accommodation provider upon arrival.
