Curriculum Vitae

Christian T. Wild

Research Interests

  • Christian Wild is a geophysicist specializing in Antarctic ice shelves and their interaction with the global ocean circulation. His research focuses on how atmospheric and oceanic warming influence Antactica’s contribution to global sea-level rise. He has participated in nine polar expeditions, including several to Thwaites Glacier, often referred to as the “doomsday glacier”. For his research, he combines satellite remote sensing with numerical models of ice-sheet dynamics, which often requires hands-on fieldwork and sometimes even poking things with a stick. After graduating from UIBK in 2014, he completed a PhD in New Zealand and postdocs in the United States and Germany. He is now thrilled to bring his expertise back to his home institution.
