Mountains are complex systems that play a crucial role for both human societies and global environmental processes, yet their dynamics are still not fully understood. At the same time, they represent highly vulnerable regions to the impacts of climate change. In this seminar, mountains are discussed from different perspectives, including their role as climate change hotspots, their specific characteristics, and their inherent complexity. The presentation also highlights the need for the scientific community to further investigate these environments in order to improve our understanding of how climate change and physical processes interact in mountainous regions.
