Social dialogue

Universities are embedded in a broad social, political and economic environment. The University of Innsbruck aims to act "from and in the centre of society" (UIBK mission statement). Such action includes science communication and goes beyond it at the same time. In the context of sustainability, the University of Innsbruck also focusses on cooperation with various people (groups) from civil society, culture, politics and business in order to contribute to a transformation towards sustainability. The campus areas of the University of Innsbruck can serve to make sustainability visible and tangible - for university members and the general public.

The job and internship portal of the University of Innsbruck's Career Service now offers students a new opportunity to discover sustainable employers. Companies - including the University of Innsbruck - can indicate in their profiles what contribution they make to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This extension is in line with AURORA and the sustainability strategy of the University of Innsbruck. Employers thus have the opportunity to make their sustainability initiatives visible and to specifically address students who value responsible work.

In addition, internships and job offers can now be filtered specifically according to SDG criteria. A filtered list of sustainable employers and corresponding job offers can be found at here.

Sustainability affects us all - and an open social dialogue is crucial in order to jointly develop solutions for a sustainable future. The Science and Responsibility Association (WuV) - a joint project of the University of Innsbruck, the Medical University of Innsbruck, MCI - Management Center Innsbruck, UMIT Tirol - The Tyrolean Private University and fh gesundheit - promotes this dialogue through the event series "Food for thought - science and practice in dialogue".

In lectures, discussions and other formats, experts from science, business, politics and society come together to shed light on key sustainability issues. This not only raises awareness of sustainable developments, but also helps to impart practical knowledge and initiate concrete measures.
